Blink. blink. yaaaaawwnnn... Wow! That was a great nap!
Found my old blog today and I LOVE reading about what we were doing 5+ years ago. When I started blogging it wasn't really for the purpose of attracting followers. It was mostly for me. So I could keep kind of a diary about our homeschooling adventure, save some great family memories and maybe if any of my ramblings helped someone along the way, that would be great too. But clearly about 5 1/2 years ago the whole thing just became too much. A lot has changed in that time. But maybe I'm back in a place where I have time to update now and again.
We are still homeschooling. My oldest has graduated and is really enjoying college. And my younger two? Well they're five and a half years older. We all kind of grew out of our KONOS curriculum although I think I will always love it. Mostly we're using textbooks now. It's so sad. But in reality I'm so thankful for the flexibility of homeschooling and being able to totally change how you homeschool when life throws you a curveball, which it did about two and a half years ago.
In 2014 hubby found out that his company was closing the facility where he worked. After much searching we were left with the option to continue with the company by moving to Oregon or take a job with a new company in New York. It was a pretty tough decision but in the end we felt that staying on the east coast was the best thing for our family. It has been an interesting transition. In 2015 we sold our beloved home, packed up and moved to a rental in upstate NY. We stayed there for a year before we found a fantastic, 130 year old house that needed a new family to love.
Gorgeous wood work, pocket doors and a backyard boasting a giant old maple tree were all we needed to fall completely in love with this old house. We've spent the last year scraping wallpaper, painting and fixing just about everything. And we still have a to do list at least a mile long. So what makes me think I can find time to start blogging again?
I'm not really sure. It looks like I need to do quite a bit of cleaning up around here though. And I'll need to reacquaint myself with the inner workings of blogging but I sure am glad Blogger hasn't disappeared into the cosmos while I was away.
